Les confessions is a recent project that reflects Sophie Jodoin’s ongoing preoccupation with the interaction of language with images. While books act as raw material for the work, language functions as its mode of articulation. Through a series of feminine surnames, Les confessions chronicles a plural (her)story. As both declarations and silent testimonies, these multiple voices form a collective portrait, a rewriting of women’s social and political bodies where the reader is invited to fill in the voids.
Founded in 2013 by Marie-Douce St-Jacques, and designed by Baptiste Alchourroun and Amandine Guillard, Le laps (“The lapse”) is an independent, Montréal-based publisher specializing in texts on the margins of literature, with a focus on singular sensibilities from artists of all backgrounds.
On April 6, Marie-Douce St-Jacques will dialogue with Alexandre St-Onge around the performative installation JET DU BAS DIT AA L’EAU GUET AVEC L’INVISIBLE. Based in improvisation, this exchange will be guided by the various performative traces collecting in the exhibition spaces over the past month.
